Saturday 22 November 2025 - 17:30

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has launched an investigation into the case of a woman who gave birth inside a tram in Rabat.

Contrary to reports, the woman was not admitted to Moulay Abdellah Hospital in Salé, as confirmed by hospital records, security footage, and staff testimonies.

She went into labor on the tram and suffered heavy bleeding, prompting emergency intervention by civil protection teams. She was transferred to Souissi Maternity Hospital, where medical staff provided necessary care and monitoring. Unfortunately, the newborn was found to be stillborn.

Initial information indicates the woman has a history of mental health issues and is currently hospitalized at the Razi Psychiatric Hospital to receive appropriate treatment.

The Ministry expressed deep regret over the incident, extended condolences to the family, and stressed its commitment to transparency and responsibility in handling such cases.
