Morocco’s minister of economic inclusion, small business, employment, and skills, Younes Sekkouri announced that the minimum wage in the private sector has risen by 20%.

Speaking on May 1, Sekkouri said the net monthly minimum wage increased from 2,638.05 dirhams in 2021 to about 3,191.85 dirhams, with a 5% rise taking effect in January 2026.

Over two million workers are impacted, according to the National Social Security Fund.

In agriculture, where wages trail other sectors, the government plans to unify minimum wages by 2028. The agricultural minimum wage will rise from around 1,860 dirhams to 2,360 dirhams by April 2026.

Sekkouri highlighted a reform reducing the pension contribution period from 3,240 to 1,320 days, allowing workers to reclaim contributions if they don’t qualify. He also noted that a 2025 income tax cut raised average household earnings by 400 dirhams and praised progress on long-delayed strike legislation.
