At the 17th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM 2025), the “Al Moutmir” initiative, hosted by Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, presented a comprehensive model that translates the objectives of Morocco’s “Green Generation” strategy into tangible agricultural impact.
The program, which connects scientific research to the real-world needs of farmers, has directly benefited over 40,000 farmers and indirectly reached more than 540,000 through its digital platforms.
Since its launch in September 2018, Al Moutmir has expanded its field teams to over 40 agricultural engineers and technicians, now operating across 43 provinces.
These professionals work alongside farmers to transfer technologies and scientific knowledge, including over 167,400 soil analyses conducted using mobile labs and the Ben Guerir Center. These tests have enabled farmers to adopt precise, balanced fertilization practices tailored to their soils’ specific needs.
At SIAM 2025, the initiative also introduced the LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) technology, capable of performing up to 200 soil analyses per day, significantly reducing costs for farmers.
To ensure fertilizer quality, Al Moutmir has partnered with fertilizer industry stakeholders to produce more than 3,500 customized formulations through the “Smart Blender” network. The initiative also renewed its ISO 9001:2015 certification for “Blend” fertilizer production and distribution for the third consecutive time.
Additionally, the “Daman Samad” initiative has tracked over one million fertilizer bags using smart chips, allowing farmers to verify product authenticity and quality through the “Souk Samad” digital platform.
In terms of technology transfer, the initiative has deployed nearly 29,320 demonstration plots across diverse climatic regions, focusing on field crops, olives, and vegetables. These plots highlight the impact of conservation agriculture and no-tillage farming on yield and resource efficiency.

Digital tools such as “AgriTrial” have also been launched to monitor crop growth in real time and collect precise data on plant stress stages to support research and agricultural policymaking.
Al Moutmir has also prioritized capacity building, offering over 17,500 hours of training to farmers, women in agriculture, and rural youth through field schools and hands-on workshops.
The “Agripedia” knowledge platform has expanded access to agricultural guidance, educational videos, and interactive statistical data on Moroccan agriculture.
The initiative has further enhanced its digital presence through updates to the @tmar app, adding services such as fertilizer requests and the “Iri-Smart” smart irrigation feature. Developed in collaboration with the National School of Agriculture in Meknes, the system uses algorithms based on climate, soil, crop, and water data. In addition, the “T@swiq” platform, created with the 1337 coding school, offers a digital marketplace where farmers can sell crops, tools, and services directly.
Al Moutmir’s mobile caravans have reached more than 10 sites through the “Al Mutmir Itinérant” program, organizing direct meetings with around 6,500 farmers in 30 provinces and 131 rural communities to introduce modern farming technologies and strengthen ties with fertilizer and distribution partners.
In conservation agriculture, the initiative has facilitated direct seeding on more than 30,200 hectares in collaboration with over 4,800 farmers and partners. National studies on soil carbon sequestration reveal that mountainous areas can store between 0.96 and 1.40 tons of carbon per hectare annually, compared to 0.63 to 0.86 tons in drier regions, with effective stabilization of plant biomass in soils.
To promote agricultural diversification, Al Moutmir has supported the introduction of high-value crops such as quinoa and saffron. It also launched a pilot livestock program in the Rahmna and Sidi Bennour regions aimed at improving nutrition and boosting rural incomes.
The “Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization” initiative also returned to SIAM 2025 with four innovative machines, including a straw collector, rainwater harvester, and feed grinding and mixing equipment, following the success of six prototypes presented in 2024. These technologies underscore Al Moutmir’s commitment to advancing efficient and affordable agricultural mechanization.
Through partnerships with the Ministry of Agriculture, OCP Group, and research institutions including INRA, IAV, and ICARDA, as well as farmer organizations, Al Moutmir continues to position Moroccan agriculture as a model of innovation and sustainability on the African and global stage.
