Authorities in Tinghir Province arrested 19 individuals this week in a coordinated operation targeting drug and moonshine trafficking networks, officials said Friday.
The operation, led jointly by National Security forces and the Royal Gendarmerie, was carried out under direct supervision from the Public Prosecutor at Tinghir Primary Court. Police apprehended 11 suspects, while gendarmerie teams arrested eight more in efforts to dismantle organized crime operations in the area.
The arrests spanned multiple locations, including Tinghir city, Kalaat M’Gouna, Taghzout N’Ait Atta, and surrounding villages. Authorities seized large quantities of drugs, bottles of alcohol, and moonshine, along with mobile tools used for distribution. The confiscated items highlight the sophisticated methods employed by criminal networks, officials said.
“This campaign reflects our commitment to combating crime and ensuring regional security,” a judicial source said. The Public Prosecutor ensured all actions complied with legal standards, reinforcing collaboration between security and judicial entities.
Residents welcomed the campaign, applauding the crackdown on activities threatening public safety. “This is a significant step toward enhancing security and stability,” one local resident said.
Authorities continue to pursue suspects still at large, using advanced surveillance technologies and modern tracking methods, according to officials. The investigations remain ongoing, with full coordination from judicial authorities.
