The Royal Navy on Thursday intervened urgently to rescue a patient aboard a foreign-flagged cargo ship flying the Marshall Islands flag, located 111 kilometers off the coast of Casablanca.
The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces reported on their official social media platforms that the intervention followed a distress signal received from the Search and Rescue Coordination Center, indicating a person aboard the vessel had sustained multiple fractures.
In response, a Royal Navy helicopter was immediately dispatched to the ship’s location, where the injured patient was transferred using a special medical stretcher.
The patient was then airlifted to the Sheikh Khalifa International University Hospital to receive the necessary medical treatment.
