Russian President Putin welcomed Moroccan head of government Fatima Zahra Mansouri and other African leaders at a Kremlin reception on Wednesday, as Moscow hosted the third Russia-Africa Summit.

Mansouri, who attended the reception wearing traditional Moroccan attire, is representing King Mohammed VI at the two-day gathering, marking her first official visit abroad since becoming head of government.

During the reception, Putin raised a toast to the visiting African leaders and called for stronger cooperation between Russia and countries across the continent.

“I would like to raise a toast to the African heads of state and leaders of African integration organizations present here, and to the further development of comprehensive cooperation between Russia and African countries,” Putin said.

The summit, held in Moscow on October 28 and 29, brings together African delegations for discussions on trade, investment, energy and diplomatic cooperation.
