A 29-year-old Florida woman, Daisy Link, in prison for fatally shooting her boyfriend has become pregnant by a fellow inmate, Joan Depaz, who is also jailed on a murder charge.

The two inmates, previously held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County, reportedly formed a relationship by communicating through air conditioning vents.

Despite never meeting in person, the pair shared a desire for a child, which they fulfilled while behind bars, the inmates told local news station WSVN.

Their connection deepened through hours of conversation, shared notes, and pictures, eventually leading to discussions about how they could conceive.

Depaz devised a plan to transport his semen through the vent using a line made of bedding material. He packaged it in plastic multiple times daily for a month, and Link used a yeast infection applicator to administer it, becoming pregnant after a few attempts.

Link gave birth to their daughter in June 2024, with DNA tests conducted in November confirming Depaz is the father.
