The World Bank has underscored the strengths of Morocco’s business environment in its latest publication, “Business Ready,” ranking the Kingdom among the top eight global economies recognized as leaders across various sectors.

Assessing  the business climate in 50 economies, the report utilizes a comprehensive set of 1,200 indicators for each country to pinpoint areas for improvement and promote necessary reforms.

It evaluates three key sectors that shape the business environment for private investors: regulatory framework, public service, and operational efficiency.

In the regulatory framework category, Morocco achieved a notable score of 68.92, surpassing the average of 66.65 for the third quintile of countries.

In the public service category, the Kingdom scored 58.66, while its operational efficiency score stood at 59.66, reinforcing its position among the top economies that foster a favorable climate for private investment.

This report replaces the previous “Doing Business” initiative, which was discontinued in 2021, and it categorizes the 50 economies into five groups based on their performance in each sector.

The report’s authors emphasize that this classification system helps policymakers identify both strengths and areas needing improvement.

“As demographics, debt, and conflict challenge economic growth, progress can only be achieved by harnessing the full potential of private enterprise,” stated Indermit Gill, World Bank Group Chief Economist and Senior Vice President for Development Economics.

The World Bank highlights that the private sector is responsible for approximately 90% of global employment, 75% of investment, over 70% of output, and more than 80% of government revenue in developing economies.
