The Egyptian Pickalbatros Group has expanded its presence in Morocco this year by acquiring four new hotels, according to a recent report by Bloomberg. The group, led by President Kamal Abu Ali, now operates more than 2,600 hotel rooms across the country.
The acquisitions include three properties in Marrakech—Club Sangho with 349 rooms, and the combined Palmeraie Palace and Golf Hotel with 640 rooms. In Agadir, the group has taken over the Palais des Roses, which offers 410 rooms.
Some of the newly acquired hotels are slated for renovations and are expected to reopen in 2025.
Pickalbatros has been steadily increasing its footprint in Morocco, with a total investment of $200 million. The group now operates seven hotels in the country and is actively exploring opportunities for further expansion.
President Abu Ali highlighted Morocco’s potential for tourism growth, noting that Pickalbatros attracted 1.4 million tourists to Egypt last year and has already welcomed about one million this year. He credited the group’s focus on coastal tourism for its success and indicated plans to replicate this strategy in Morocco.
“We intend to bring the same successful approach to our Moroccan operations,” Abu Ali told Asharq Bloomberg.
