Morocco is planning to provide more than 32 cities with 3,500 new urban transport buses by 2029, Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit said Monday in Rabat.
Speaking at the House of Representatives’ question time, the minister noted that the 10 billion-dirham project provides for buying buses, building maintenance centers and parking lots, as well as developing ticketing and management support systems.
To implement this program, the ministry has developed studies relating to the delegated management of urban bus transport, he pointed out.
In the same context, the minister underlined that his department will review all delegated management contracts that are experiencing several financial and management problems in order to adapt them and take the necessary measures to ensure a balanced budget and to improve services.
