The President of the Republic of Senegal, Macky Sall, received, Monday evening at the Presidential Palace in Dakar, members of the Moroccan delegation participating in the Senegalese-Moroccan Conference on Decentralization which is taking place in the Senegalese capital.

This audience testifies to the interest and importance that the Senegalese Head of State attaches to the historic and excellent relations between Morocco and Senegal in various fields.

The Moroccan delegation, led by Abdelouahhab El Jabri, Governor in charge of Cooperation and Documentation at the Directorate General of Local Authorities (DGCT), included the President of the Moroccan Association of Local Council Presidents (AMPCC), Mounir Laymouri, Mayor of Tangier.

The delegation also included officials representing the DGCT, the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), Municipal Equipment Fund (FEC) and Deposit and Management Fund (CDG), as well as presidents of various local authorities.

The audience took place in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to Dakar, Hassan Naciri.

Speaking on the occasion, the Senegalese President praised the participation of two large Moroccan delegations in two major events in Dakar in January, pointing out that the first major cultural delegation, led by the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, and comprising over 70 Moroccan artists, took part in the 12th edition of the Fesnac Arts and Culture Festival in Fatick, during which the Kingdom was guest of honor.

As for the second large delegation, it is made up of Moroccan mayors and elected representatives taking part in the Senegal-Morocco Decentralization Conference currently being held in Dakar, he added.

“We are touched by this and it shows the importance that Morocco, a brotherly country, attaches to its relationship with Senegal,” emphasized President Macky Sall.

Returning to the Conference, he pointed out that Morocco has a “very proactive policy in terms of decentralization and, above all, regional planning,” adding that “very often the Moroccan example has been cited when it comes to seeing how cities have made their contribution to regional planning.”

President Macky Sall also asked the Moroccan delegation to convey his feelings of friendship and gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him.
