The Mohammed VI Tower in Rabat received the “Best Performance in Engineering Projects” prize at the Caminos Madrid 2022 event. This award is given by the College of Civil Engineers of Madrid and is highly regarded in the construction industry.
At a ceremony in Madrid’s Matadero, the award was presented to O Tower, a subsidiary of O Capital Group led by Mr. Othman Benjelloun, the project owner of the Mohammed VI Tower, and Bernabeu Ingenieros, the engineering firm responsible for its design.
The tower’s structure required 13,000 tons of concrete for its foundations and 8,520 tons of steel framework.
Inspired by a visit to NASA’s Apollo 12 rocket launch training in 1969, Mr. Othman Benjelloun envisioned a unique architectural design: a tower shaped as a rocket.
The Mohammed VI Tower, Africa’s tallest building, comprises 55 floors and a total height of 250 meters. It houses a mix of residential, hotel, office, and service spaces.
Offices, residences, and hotels are located on the north side, facing the Bouregreg River, the Hassan Tower, and the recently constructed Grand Theatre of Rabat.
This important project plays a vital role in the growth of the Bouregreg Valley and demonstrates Morocco’s advancements in construction.
