The Moroccan government, led by Aziz Akhannouch, prepares to launch its Moroccan Agency for Medicine and Health Products.
The n government has increased its pace on implementing the reforms that it aspires to bring about in the health sector.
The reforms are meant to respond, without discrimination, to the hopes of all citizens, and to provide a decent public service that guarantees equal access to medical services, according to official sources.
According to the same sources, the government is close to launching the “Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products,” with the aim of establishing better governance in the pharmaceutical and health products sector, given its importance in the national health system.
The sources added that the health crisis resulting from “Covid-19” demonstrated the urgent need to strengthen health sovereignty in the field of necessary medicines and medical materials, as emphasized by King Mohammed VI in his speech on July 31, 2021 on the occasion of the Throne Day.
The same sources revealed that the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products will enjoy legal personality and financial independence, and will replace the “Directorate of Medicines and Pharmacy” in the Ministry of Health, that is now unable to control the sector and respond to the national and international transformations that the field of medicines and medical supplies knows.
The Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch, had stressed, during a previous appearance in the House of Representatives, the royal care for the health of citizens, indicating that his government had made promoting the principle of the “social state” the principle of its relation with citizens.
