Marrakesh was ranked among the top 10 best cities in the world, leading the categories for getting to know your neighbors and finding new friends, according to the British Magazine TimeOut’s World Index.
Thousands of city-dwellers around the world ranked their respective favorite cities for food, culture, nightlife and making new friends.
A total of 20.000 city-dwellers were quizzed on trendy restaurants, current art and cultural events and on how easy to socialize and make friends in their cities.
The survey also took into consideration other practical aspects such as walkability, good public transportation, safety and sustainability in the cities.
“Community, creativity and faith in the future have seen Marrakech come roaring out of the pandemic with a new lease of life,” lauded the Magazine, adding that “the lockdown created space for local entrepreneurs to flex their muscles opening cool new boutiques and restaurants.”
Well-established facilities reopening their doors rocking new looks and the cultural scene is thriving through festivals, sessions and art exhibitions continues the review.
Famous for its hospitability, laid-back vibes and cheerful dwellers, it is hardly surprising that Marrakech ranked the highest in the world for getting to know your neighbors and socializing.
70% of the respondents find it easy to get to know their neighbour and 70% to make new friends, according to the survey.
Marrakesh outranked many great metropolitan cities such as Berlin (8th), Montreal (9th), Madrid (12th), Melbourne (15th), London (17th), New York (20th) and Paris (32nd).
It is worth mentioning that the Mouassine neighborhood figures in the second part of the Survey for the Coolest Neighborhood in the World as “Marrakech’s most fashionable neighborhood in the sixteenth century.”
“Recently renovated, it is now experiencing a renaissance, with new design shops and restaurants rubbing shoulders with traditional craft stores and antique shops,” concludes the Survey.
