Ahead of the launch of the operation Marhaba 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics has established a fleet plan tailored to the port infrastructure, the management of flows and of the expected traffic, said Thursday, the Director of the Merchant Navy, Amane Fathallah.

32 ships will ensure 572 weekly rotations for a total capacity of 471,000 passengers and 124,000 vehicles per week, Fathallah told MAP on the sidelines of the meeting in Rabat of the Moroccan-Spanish joint commission on transit.

Similarly, she added, 14 ships will serve on the main axis Tangier Med-Algeciras with up to 47 rotations/day.

The Ministry has also renewed the terms of reference of the operation Marhaba, which requires sea travel operators to comply with security and safety provisions while providing quality services on board to meet the needs of passengers, she went on.

The Moroccan-Spanish joint commission on transit convened, Thursday in Rabat, under the co-chairmanship of Khalid Zerouali, Wali Director of Migration and Border Surveillance, and Isabel Goicoechea Aranguen, Spanish Undersecretary of State for the Interior.

This meeting took place as part of the implementation of the road map developed during the visit of Pedro Sanchez, President of the Spanish Government, to the Kingdom in April 2022.
