Moroccans on social media have called for the prosecution of a woman dubbed the “kitten killer,” after she shared a video in which she sets her dog on a kitten.

The woman can be heard in the video telling her dog “It’s ugly, you don’t want it, do you? I don’t want it either, I don’t like it,” before setting him on the smaller animal.

The kitten is then shown lifeless and dragged by the neck by the dog.

“You killed it, you don’t know where to start?” the woman is heard saying.

Media reports indicate that the video originates from Fes and was posted on the woman’s Instagram account.

Social media users launched a hashtag to call for the arrest and prosecution of the “kitten killer,” after the video went viral on the Moroccan internet scene.

Morocco’s Penal Code punishes “anyone who, without necessity, kills or mutilates (…) any domestic animal” with a prison sentence of two to six months.
