The General Secretariat of the European Council for Fatwa and Research announced that the Ramadan month for 2022 will begin on April 2.
In a published statement, the Council declared that “The accurate astronomical calculations for the crescent of the month of Ramadan for the year 1443 AH confirm that the conjunction will be at 06 and 25 minutes according to the Coordinated Universal Time (Greenwich GMT) of Friday 1, April 2022 AD, which corresponds to 09:25 according to the local time in Makkah.”
The same statement noted that “The crescent can be seen in the western part of Africa and the Americas with a telescope after sunset.” Thus, the first day of Raman will correspond to April 2, 2022.
