The meteorological service issued an orange-level alert for a heat wave, with temperatures expected to range between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius in the provinces of Taroudant, Oued Eddahab, Smara, Boujdour, Laayoune and Aousserd.
The heat wave is expected to continue from Friday through Sunday.
A separate orange-level warning covers thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong wind gusts, with rainfall totals expected to range between 20 and 30 millimeters.
The warning applies to the provinces of Al Haouz, Ifrane, Azilal, Rhamna, Boulemane, Marrakech, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Khenifra, Chichaoua and Sefrou.
The thunderstorms are expected Friday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m., according to the meteorological service.
Authorities urged residents in the affected areas to exercise caution, avoid locations vulnerable to flooding and strong winds, and take precautions against the significant rise in temperatures.
