Sales of phosphates and their derivatives in Morocco amounted to about MAD 70 billion in the first eleven months of 2021, according to the exchange office’s data.
The exchange office stated that these sales recorded a rise of 51.9%, or an increase of MAD 23.6 billion, compared to the same period last year.
This change comes as a result of the increase in sales of natural and chemical fertilizers by MAD 14.7 billion, due to the impact of the increase in prices by 65.4%, moving from MAD 2,779 dirhams per ton in November 2020, to MAD 4,595 per ton by the end of November.
The Exchange Office’s data indicated that the volume of sales of natural and chemical fertilizers decreased by 8.6%, but the increase in prices compensated for the decline significantly.
The exchange Office’s monthly indicators of foreign trade for November have shown also an increase in exports, reaching MAD 293.15 billion, up by 22.5% or + MAD53.77 billion, compared to MAD 239.37 billion recorded in the same period a year earlier.
As for the energy bill, it increased by 49.3%, due to the rise in supplies of gas and fuel oils (+ MAD 10.73 billion), following the increase in prices by 39.1%, added the Office.
The increases in exports concerned namely sectors, including the phosphates and derivatives (51.9%), ahead of the automotive sector (12.8%), and the agriculture and agri-food sector ( 10.2%).
