Morocco’s RS Berkane and Maghreb de Fes learned their opponents for the CAF Champions League group stage on Wednesday, following the draw held in Cairo, Egypt.
RS Berkane were placed in Group C alongside South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, Tanzania’s Simba SC and Cameroon’s Colombe Sportive.
The draw sets up demanding fixtures for Berkane against Orlando Pirates and Simba, both experienced competitors in African club football, as the Moroccan side seeks a place in the knockout rounds.
Maghreb de Fes, meanwhile, were drawn in Group D alongside Egypt’s Pyramids FC, Sudan’s Al Hilal and Guinea’s Horoya AC.
The Fes-based club will face strong competition from Pyramids and Al Hilal as it aims to progress beyond the group stage.
Both Moroccan clubs will play their group opponents home and away, with the top two teams in each of the four groups advancing to the quarterfinals.
The competition will then proceed through two-legged knockout ties before the final determines Africa’s club champion.
