The Ministries of Interior and Health ordered several private schools to stop in-person classes for non-vaccinated students starting this Friday, October 22, according to Hespress sources.
For vaccinated students aged 12 and above, classes are held in-person.
Some private schools have started announcing the suspension of in-person classes for unvaccinated students, and the adoption of remote studies, according to the same source.
Health authorities said they were able to vaccinate 70% of teens aged 12 to 17, or 2 111 697 students, representing nearly 3 million before the start of studies on October 1.
482,305 have received the second shot, or nearly half a million, while 30% of students have not yet received their second shot.
54% of students have received the Pfizer vaccine, while 46% have received the Sinopharm vaccine.
Over the past days, health and education authorities intensified efforts to push the vaccination drive amongst students ahead of the school year.
