Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit said on Thursday that his department’s draft budget for 2027 aims to accelerate human and territorial development across all its dimensions.

Presenting the draft budget before the Lower House, Laftit said the budget, amounting to MAD 58.7 billion, is part of the main guidelines of the Government Program, aligning with the High Royal Directives aimed at strengthening strategic sovereignty in the areas of water, energy, food and digital technology, as well as accelerating advanced regionalization and administrative devolution.

He added that the budget also seeks to implement a new generation of integrated development programs while pursuing institutional reforms and modernization projects launched by the Kingdom in recent years.

In this regard, the ministry is continuing efforts to implement the legal and institutional measures related to advanced regionalization, provide financial and technical support to territorial authorities, and improve territorial management and governance.

Laftit also reported positive results from the four programs of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) as of the end of June, notably the allocation of nearly MAD 698 million to address infrastructure and basic service gaps in the least-equipped territories, particularly through the development of basic social facilities.

A further MAD 500 million was mobilized to support vulnerable groups, including abandoned children, street children, homeless youth, persons with disabilities, vulnerable women and elderly people without resources.

Regarding security governance, the minister stressed that preserving the Kingdom’s security and stability and protecting citizens and their property remain fundamental responsibilities of the Ministry of the Interior, carried out in accordance with the High Royal Directives.

He noted in this regard that Morocco’s stability and the full exercise of political, economic and social rights are the result of sustained efforts, constant vigilance and continuous field mobilization.

Meanwhile, the governmental official warned that the terrorist threat remains persistent and requires the highest level of vigilance, stressing that the absence of terrorist attacks does not mean the absence of plans to undermine Morocco’s security.

The ministry’s approach, he pointed out, is based on proactively addressing risks before they materialize into acts threatening individuals or facilities, in strict compliance with the law and under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
