Three Moroccan internationals, Achraf Hakimi, Brahim Diaz and Ismael Saibari, have been nominated for the 2026 African Player of the Year award, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced Wednesday.
Hakimi, who won the award in 2025, is seeking a second consecutive title after another successful season with Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco.
Diaz and Saibari earned nominations following their performances with the Atlas Lions, who reached the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
The Moroccan trio face competition from Senegal’s Sadio Mane, Pape Gueye and Ismaila Sarr, alongside seven other nominees in total.
Morocco also has two candidates for Coach of the Year, Mohamed Ouahbi and Walid Regragui, while Yassine Bounou and Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti feature among the goalkeeper nominees.
Ayoub Bouaddi and Abdellah Ouazane are shortlisted for Young Player of the Year.
The awards ceremony will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, on December 7.
