Paris Saint-Germain’s Moroccan right back Achraf Hakimi, who suffered a right thigh injury last Sunday in Brest during a Ligue 1 match (0-1), resumed individual training on Friday, the Paris club announced.
“As part of his recovery program, Achraf Hakimi is doing individual work on the field today,” PSG said in a medical update on Friday.
Achraf Hakimi, 27, left the pitch in the 39th minute during PSG’s victory in Brest last Sunday on the fourth matchday of Ligue 1. The club announced the following day that he was suffering from a “minor injury to his right thigh” and would remain under medical care for a few days.
The Moroccan player did not resume team training on Friday, and his participation in PSG’s away game against Marseille on Sunday for the 5th matchday of Ligue 1 has not been confirmed by the club.
As reigning five-time French champion and two-time European champion, PSG secured its very first Ligue 1 victory last Sunday, following two draws and one loss. Luis Enrique’s team is ranked 7th with five points, five points behind the top three teams: Lille, Monaco, and Rennes.
Achraf Hakimi is among the players called up Thursday by Moroccan national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2027) qualifiers. The Atlas Lions are set to face Gabon at home on September 25, followed by an away match against Lesotho four days later.
Another friendly match is scheduled against Ghana on October 4 in Tangier.
