Morocco’s imports under free trade agreements rose 7% in 2025 to MAD 241.3 billion, an increase of MAD 15.8 billion from the previous year, according to the Foreign Exchange Office’s annual foreign trade report.

The European Union accounted for 68% of these imports, increasing its share by two percentage points compared with 2024 and reinforcing its position as Morocco’s largest supplier under preferential trade arrangements.

Spain remained Morocco’s leading EU supplier, with imports valued at MAD 43.5 billion, followed by France at MAD 25.8 billion.

French exports to Morocco recorded the largest increase in absolute terms, rising MAD 2.6 billion year-on-year.

Germany and Italy each supplied goods worth MAD 20.6 billion, with imports increasing 14.7% and 11.3%, respectively.

Vehicle purchases contributed significantly to the growth, with imports of passenger cars and commercial vehicles reaching MAD 28 billion, up MAD 7.4 billion from 2024.

US imports decline as Turkish shipments increase

Imports under Morocco’s free trade agreement with the United States fell 9.2%, or MAD 3.3 billion, in 2025.

The decline was driven primarily by a MAD 2 billion reduction in petroleum gas and other hydrocarbon purchases, alongside a MAD 3.1 billion drop in imports of aircraft and other aerospace vehicles.

Turkey recorded the opposite trend, with Moroccan imports under the bilateral agreement rising 13.8%, equivalent to MAD 3.7 billion.

Semi-finished products accounted for much of that growth, increasing MAD 2.7 billion.

Agadir Agreement imports fall after four years of growth

Imports under the Agadir Agreement declined 2.6%, reversing an upward trend recorded since 2021.

Purchases of semi-finished products fell MAD 1 billion, partially offset by increases of MAD 612 million in animal and vegetable products and MAD 102 million in food imports.

Meanwhile, imports under Morocco’s agreement with the European Free Trade Association, comprising Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, reached MAD 2.8 billion.

Food products accounted for MAD 866 million, while finished consumer goods represented MAD 770 million.
