Two airports in southern Saudi Arabia were targeted in attacks Monday evening, injuring three people and causing material damage, the General Authority of Civil Aviation said.
The attacks targeted King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport, according to the authority.
Emergency teams and other authorities responded immediately and followed established procedures to deal with the incidents, the statement said.
The three injured people were taken to hospitals for medical treatment. The aviation authority said it was assessing the damage and coordinating with security agencies to protect passengers and airport workers.
The attacks came as fighting intensified between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi militia in recent hours.
The authority did not provide further details on what caused the damage or identify those responsible for the attacks.
It said security measures were being taken to maintain the safety of the country’s civil aviation system.
