Saudi Arabia on Monday condemned what it described as continued Houthi attacks on civilians, infrastructure and shipping, while reaffirming its right to take measures to defend its territory.
The Foreign Ministry said attacks had targeted Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Najran, Taif and Yanbu, as well as Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab Strait.
Riyadh said it remained committed to supporting Yemen’s internationally recognized government and Presidential Leadership Council politically and militarily, accusing the Houthis of rejecting efforts toward a political settlement.
The statement follows renewed fighting in Yemen and a series of recent attacks attributed by Saudi authorities to the Houthis. Saudi Arabia last week accused the group of striking an electricity distribution station in Madinah. The Houthis denied responsibility for that attack.
Saudi Arabia also called on permanent UN Security Council members to support the Yemeni government and implement existing council resolutions.
