Spanish police have arrested a man at Tenerife South Airport after he arrived on a flight from Agadir, Morocco carrying 880 grams of cannabis resin inside his body, according to Europa Press citing the statement of the security forces.
National Police officers intercepted the man upon his arrival, following coordination between several investigative units.
Officers noticed signs of suspicion during border control checks and ordered a medical test to determine whether he was carrying substances internally. The test came back positive.
The man was transferred to a hospital, where medical staff supervised the expulsion of 79 capsules, weighing 880 grams, containing cannabis resin.
The National Police did not name the suspect or disclose his nationality.
Spain’s Department of National Security noted in a 2025 report that the hashish trafficking route from Morocco, the world’s leading producer, to Spain appears to have been reactivated after a decline in seizures in 2023 and 2024.
While most smuggling on this route occurs by sea, body-packing on direct commercial flights has emerged as a parallel method.
