Moroccan security services, in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie, have arrested a man suspected of providing alcoholic beverages to a minor after a video documenting the incident circulated widely on social media, authorities said.
According to preliminary findings, investigators launched a technical inquiry that led to the identification and arrest of the suspect in the village of Qasr Taiba, near the city of Errachidia.
The investigation revealed that the child featured in the video is the suspect’s younger brother.
The suspect was placed in police custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office as part of an ongoing judicial investigation aimed at determining the full circumstances and details surrounding the case.
The incident comes just days after prosecutors at the Court of First Instance in Benslimane ordered the pretrial detention of three individuals in a similar case involving allegations of encouraging a minor to consume a substance believed to be intoxicating.
That case also emerged after the circulation of a video on social media and drew significant public attention across Morocco.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the charges that may be brought against the suspect pending the outcome of the investigation.
