Moroccan authorities have arrested three suspects, including a woman, in connection with the killing of a young driver who worked through a ride-hailing application, according to Hespress AR sources familiar with the investigation.
The suspects were detained Tuesday following a joint operation involving the Royal Gendarmerie in Casablanca, Sale and Kenitra, coordinated with security services across the country.
Investigators also recovered the victim’s vehicle and located his body after launching a search prompted by a missing-person complaint filed by his family.
According to the sources, the victim, identified only as Yassine, had disappeared days earlier. Family members reported that calls to his phone initially went unanswered, while on other occasions an unfamiliar person allegedly answered the device in what investigators believe may have been an attempt to mislead relatives about his whereabouts.
Field and technical investigations ultimately led authorities to the victim’s body, which was found in a mutilated condition. The body has been transferred for forensic examination to determine the circumstances and cause of death.
The three suspects were arrested in the vicinity of Salé. Authorities also seized the victim’s car as part of the investigation.
The competent public prosecutor in Casablanca ordered that the suspects be transferred to the Royal Gendarmerie’s judicial investigation unit in the 2 Mars district, where they are being questioned.
Investigators are seeking to determine the role of each suspect in the alleged kidnapping, killing, mutilation of the body and theft of the victim’s vehicle before the case is referred to prosecutors for further legal proceedings.
The investigation remains ongoing.
