Police in Casablanca have opened a judicial investigation after arresting a woman from sub-Saharan Africa on suspicion of international cocaine trafficking, authorities said.
The suspect was detained Sunday at Mohammed V International Airport shortly after arriving on a flight from Freetown, Sierra Leone. A customs search led to the seizure of two packages of cocaine weighing a total of 7 kilograms and 330 grams, which were concealed in her personal luggage.
The woman has been placed in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office.
Authorities said the probe aims to determine the circumstances of the case and identify any potential national or international links, as well as other individuals possibly involved in the trafficking network.
