Morocco’s economy is expected to maintain steady growth over the next three years, supported by public investment and sound macroeconomic management, the African Development Bank said in a report Tuesday.

The bank highlighted Morocco as a leading example of economic transformation in Africa, noting its success in diversifying exports and integrating into global value chains. These efforts have helped the country withstand external pressures while maintaining relative balance in trade and finance.

Morocco’s economy expanded 4.4% in 2025 and is projected to grow about 4% in 2026, accelerating slightly to 4.3% in 2027, according to the report. The growth comes despite a challenging international environment marked by uncertainty and fluctuating markets.

Continued government spending on large-scale projects, particularly in infrastructure, logistics, and renewable energy, is cited as a key driver of the growth. These investments are expected to sustain momentum while gradually improving public finances, with the fiscal deficit forecast to narrow and stabilize around 3.1% of gross domestic product.

Inflation has remained moderate, with prices rising 1.9% on average, placing Morocco among the continent’s stronger performers in terms of price stability. This helps preserve consumer purchasing power, the bank noted.

Agriculture is expected to rebound following favorable weather conditions, while tourism and export-oriented industries continue to expand.

Across Africa, the AfDB projects economic growth to rise from 4.2% in 2025 to 4.5% by 2027, making the continent one of the fastest-growing regions globally. The report noted that 12 African countries ranked among the top 20 fastest-growing economies last year.

The bank cautioned that rising geopolitical tensions could disrupt global supply chains and drive up energy prices, potentially slowing growth. It also stressed the need for economic expansion to translate into job creation, particularly for young people, and to reduce regional disparities.
