Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan on Monday opened the 17th edition of the El Jadida Horse Show at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park, held this year under the theme “The Horse in the Service of Humanity.”
The show runs through Oct. 18 and brings together breeders, equestrian professionals, institutions and international participants for competitions, exhibitions, cultural events and scientific discussions centered on Morocco’s horse industry and equestrian traditions.
Upon arriving at the exhibition park, Moulay El Hassan was welcomed by Moulay Abdellah Alaoui, president of the Horse Show Association, before reviewing a Royal Guard contingent.
He was also received by regional and local officials, representatives of the Agriculture Ministry, members of the association’s board and event sponsors.
International guests attending the opening included Türkiye’s ambassador to Morocco Mustafa Ilker Kilic; Oman’s ambassador Khalid Salim Ahmed Bamakhalif; UAE chargé d’affaires Omar Al Tunaiji; Emirates Arabian Horse Society Director General Mohamed Ahmed Al Harbi; Rashed Al Kaabi from the UAE Presidency; Ahmed Bin Khalfan Al Lamki of Oman’s Royal Cavalry; and Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority Executive Director Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei.
The Crown Prince toured stands dedicated to institutions, breeders, handicrafts, international exhibitors, arts and culture, Morocco’s regions and sponsors. He also visited the children’s village, “Faris Traveling Across Morocco,” designed to introduce younger visitors to Moroccan equestrian heritage.
He later attended equestrian performances, artistic shows and vaulting displays by Moroccan and international riders and troupes.
At the Tbourida arena, Moulay El Hassan watched performances by 18 sorbas representing different regions of Morocco.
Tbourida, also known as fantasia, combines horsemanship, coordinated riding and traditional ceremonial practices. The tradition was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2021.
The Crown Prince also posed for a commemorative photograph with the moqaddems leading the 18 participating sorbas.
Organized by the Horse Show Association, the annual El Jadida event combines sporting competitions with exhibitions, conferences, workshops and activities for younger audiences.
The 2026 edition includes a major change to its international competition program, with the Mohammed VI Grand Prix for show jumping elevated to CSI 5*-W status, placing it at a higher level on the international show-jumping calendar.
The event also includes conferences and round-table discussions examining the horse’s role in agriculture, culture, sport and society, alongside recreational programming for visitors.
