Ferry links between the Spanish ports of Algeciras and Tarifa and Morocco’s Tanger Med complex were suspended on Saturday due to adverse weather in the Strait of Gibraltar, with Spanish port authorities citing operational restrictions tied to a midday closure at Tanger Med.
The Algeciras Port Authority said it had cancelled all crossings scheduled for the day, adding that the disruption covered every departure planned from 10 a.m., according to official port channels. Access to the port of Algeciras was also restricted for international road haulage trucks heading to Tanger Med, as passenger traffic was suspended.
The port of Tarifa separately announced a total cancellation of its maritime links with Tanger Ville, extending the weather driven shutdown to routes serving northern Morocco’s passenger terminal.
