Man under judicial investigation dies at Beni Mellal regional hospital

A man who was the subject of a judicial investigation in a misdemeanor case has died in the intensive care unit of the Beni Mellal Regional Hospital, a source at the Beni Mellal police prefecture said.

According to preliminary findings of the investigation, the individual was transferred to the hospital after suffering a health emergency while undergoing procedures related to the judicial inquiry. He was admitted to the intensive care unit, and the measure of police custody was lifted on the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office, before his death was declared.

The public prosecutor has ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, as part of an ongoing judicial investigation. The inquiry includes hearing testimony from several witnesses and reviewing surveillance camera footage from the detention facilities used during the preliminary investigation period.
