Landings from coastal and artisanal fishing at the port of M’diq reached 2,447 tonnes by the end of November 2025, up 38 percent year on year, according to data released by the National Fisheries Office (ONP).

The market value of these catches rose 18 percent to more than 89.3 million dirhams, compared with 75.9 million dirhams over the same period in 2024, the ONP said in its latest statistical report.

Pelagic fish landings increased 58 percent to 1,145 tonnes, generating nearly 17.8 million dirhams, while white fish volumes climbed 57 percent to 689 tonnes, with revenues exceeding 20.9 million dirhams, according to figures reported by the Moroccan Press Agency.

By contrast, cephalopod landings declined 9 percent to 388 tonnes, with revenues down 4 percent to 26.6 million dirhams. Crustacean landings rose 20 percent to 220 tonnes, bringing in more than 24.1 million dirhams.

At the national level, marketed coastal and artisanal landings totaled 1.05 million tonnes, down 15 percent, with overall value falling 4 percent to 9.57 billion dirhams, highlighting continued pressure on Morocco’s fishing sector despite strong regional performance at M’diq.
