The provincial directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool Education and Sports in Taroudant said classes were temporarily suspended on Saturday at all public and private schools across the province.
The decision followed a weather alert issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology warning of expected disturbances in several regions, including Taroudant.
In a statement, the provincial directorate said the suspension was a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of students and educational and administrative staff.
The directorate urged schools and families to raise awareness among students about safety precautions and to avoid dangerous areas, particularly valleys and flood prone plains.
Authorities said the measure was temporary and preventive and would remain in effect.
The General Directorate of Meteorology warned of unstable conditions that could affect mobility and school access in areas.
No timeline was given for resuming classes, which will be announced once conditions improve, officials said.
