Police in Tangier, in coordination with authorities in Tetouan, arrested a 39-year-old taxi driver Monday over allegations of reckless driving that endangered other road users, according to a statement from the Tangier Security Directorate.
The driver was first stopped by a police patrol for committing traffic violations while operating a taxi. Authorities said he failed to comply with orders and drove in the wrong direction, putting lives at risk. The incident was captured in a video that circulated widely on social media.
Investigations conducted by the General Directorate for National Security (DGST) helped authorities identify the suspect, who was subsequently apprehended during an operation in Tetouan.
The driver is now under judicial investigation supervised by the public prosecutor to determine the full circumstances and background of the case.
