The Casablanca Court of Appeal postponed on Wednesday the trial of Mohamed Boudrika, former president of Raja Casablanca Football Club and ex-parliamentarian for the National Rally of Independents, after his defense requested the summoning of a notary who accused him of misappropriating a check worth six million dirhams.
Boudrika, currently detained, faces multiple charges, including issuing bad checks, fraud, forgery of private documents, and unlawful use of official certificates.
During the session, his legal team, composed of five attorneys, argued that the notary had failed to appear for two consecutive hearings, urging the court to compel her testimony through a judicial officer.
The defense reiterated Boudrika’s denial of the alleged “check swallowing” incident, recalling that a 2018 court ruling had previously cleared him in a dispute involving the same notary.
The judges agreed to adjourn proceedings to next Wednesday to allow her to testify.
Boudrika had been sentenced by a lower court to five years in prison and fined over 650,000 dirhams, along with a one-year ban on issuing checks.
He was arrested in July 2024 at Hamburg Airport by German authorities following a Europol alert based on an international warrant, before being extradited to Morocco to face charges.
The former district president of Mers Sultan in Casablanca was previously dismissed from office for prolonged absenteeism after winning local elections.
