Morocco’s education minister Mohamed Saad Brada announced Friday that more than 3.27 million students benefited this year from the back-to-school grant, introduced under the new direct social support system as a successor to the royal “One Million Schoolbags” initiative.
Presenting updates on the 2025–2026 school year, Brada said 4,626 “Riyada” model primary schools will open to welcome over two million pupils, staffed by 75,000 teachers, 960 inspectors, 1,000 guidance counselors and 360 extracurricular facilitators.
The minister detailed the training of 6,000 coordinating teachers, the equipping of 32,000 classrooms with pedagogical materials, and the provision of low-cost textbooks priced between 4 and 12 dirhams.
He reported that 216,959 students are enrolled in boarding schools and 80,245 in school canteens, both up 3 percent, while school transport serves 683,244 pupils, a 5 percent increase.
Early childhood education expanded to 985,375 children, with over 2,500 new preschool classes and strengthened training for more than 22,000 educators.
