Nabil Benabdallah, secretary-general of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), has returned to government after King Mohammed VI appointed him minister of national education, preschool education, vocational training and qualification on Friday.
Born in Rabat on June 3, 1959, Benabdallah studied international relations at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in Paris.
His government career began as minister of communication and government spokesperson, a position he held from 2002 to 2007. He subsequently served as Morocco’s ambassador to Italy between 2008 and 2009.
Benabdallah returned to the cabinet in 2012, holding successive ministerial positions covering housing, urban planning and city policy until October 2017.
He is also a court-certified sworn translator.
His latest appointment places him in charge of Morocco’s education system, bringing schools, preschool education, vocational training and professional qualification under one ministerial portfolio.
