Morocco closed its 2024/2025 raspberry export campaign with record results, marking nearly 14% growth in volume compared with the previous season and a 9% increase over the 2022/2023 record, according to EastFruit data.

The rebound underscores the country’s agricultural recovery after years of drought, with OECD forecasting growth of 3.8% in 2025 and 2026, partly fueled by exceptional export performance.

April 2025 was the standout month, with more than 10,000 tonnes shipped abroad, reflecting the consistency of national production. Exports peak between November and May, aligning with foreign demand cycles.

Europe remained the core market. The UK absorbed over 30% of shipments, consolidating Morocco’s position as its leading supplier since 2022/2023. Spain (23.4%) and the Netherlands (18.4%) followed, while Germany (13.6%) and France (7.9%) completed the top five. Together, these countries accounted for 94.4% of total exports, all registering growth in Moroccan raspberry imports.

Beyond Europe, Morocco expanded aggressively into secondary destinations. Roughly 3,500 tonnes were shipped outside traditional markets, up 60% year-on-year. Sales to the Middle East continued to rise, Belgium’s imports surged 2.5 times, and deliveries extended to Austria, Switzerland, Romania and even Eswatini. In total, Moroccan raspberries reached 26 countries during the campaign.

The record stems from the maturation of Morocco’s red fruit sector, anchored in Loukkos, Gharb and Souss regions. Investments in farming practices, packaging infrastructure and trade partnerships have turned raspberries into a strategic export alongside tomatoes and watermelons. Analysts say continued diversification, premium positioning and logistics optimization will be key to sustaining momentum in future seasons.
