A local administrative official in the Oussard district of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region died after suffering severe burns when his clothes caught fire while refueling his motorcycle, authorities said.

Initial reports said fuel spilled onto the man’s clothing unnoticed before igniting, causing third-degree burns across his body. He was airlifted by medical helicopter to Marrakech for treatment but succumbed to his injuries moments before arrival.

Local authorities have opened an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the incident, summoning witnesses and reviewing the sequence of events to determine the exact cause.
