Morocco has become the first country to contribute to the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) newly launched Resilience Fund, IOM Director General Amy Pope announced on Monday.
The voluntary contribution aims to support the UN agency’s emergency operations and humanitarian responses for migrants and displaced communities.
“We are proud to announce that Morocco has made an exceptional voluntary contribution to the IOM’s recently established Resilience Fund, becoming the first member state to do so,” Pope stated in a message on social media.
The initiative seeks to mobilize $100 million in flexible funding to bolster the organization’s ability to respond swiftly to crises and sustain essential field operations.
Pope emphasized that Morocco’s support “ensures that IOM remains agile, accountable, and ready to respond wherever and whenever needed.” She also noted that this move aligns with the Fund’s mission to strengthen IOM’s resilience in emergency intervention, protection services, and anti-trafficking efforts.
