Authorities in the Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab region have opened a judicial investigation into a member of Morocco’s Auxiliary Forces following allegations of harassment and financial extortion filed by a migrant woman, according to an official statement released Monday.
The Royal Gendarmerie in Dakhla initiated the probe under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office after receiving a complaint from a female migrant from a sub-Saharan African country.
The woman, who had been staying at a migrant reception center in the commune of El Argoub, alleged that the Auxiliary Forces member subjected her to sexual harassment and attempted to extort money from her.
The complainant supported her accusations with a video recording that purportedly documents the alleged misconduct, prompting immediate notification to law enforcement authorities.
The suspect was quickly identified and apprehended. He has been placed in custody pending further investigation to determine the full circumstances, motives, and legal implications of the case, the same source confirmed.
In parallel with the judicial proceedings, the General Inspectorate of the Auxiliary Forces—Southern Division—has issued an administrative suspension order against the suspect, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation. Disciplinary action will be taken accordingly based on judicial findings.
This case underscores Moroccan authorities’ efforts to address misconduct within the ranks of public service and maintain accountability, particularly in sensitive contexts involving vulnerable populations such as migrants.
