Morocco has seen a strong resurgence in lemon exports during the 2024/2025 campaign, marking a turnaround after four consecutive years of decline, according to EastFruit.
Favorable weather and a sharp drop in global supply, especially from Turkey, the world’s second-largest exporter, have allowed Moroccan producers to reclaim international market share.
Between October and March, Morocco exported 6,100 tonnes of lemons, generating $2.7 million—the highest volume for this period since 2020/2021. This rebound follows a record low of just 5,000 tonnes last season.
While lemons still trail far behind mandarins and oranges in export volume, their extended season ensures a more consistent international presence. Key markets like Mauritania (absorbing over 40%), the UK, Russia, and Canada have shown renewed demand, with shipments also resuming to the U.S. and Sweden.
