Vandalism mars Casablanca's Mohammed V Stadium reopening after league match
Thursday 24 April 2025 - 23:00

During the second match since its reopening, Casablanca’s Mohammed V Stadium witnessed significant damage on Wednesday night following the match between Raja Casablanca and Hassania Agadir, part of Morocco’s 27th league round.

Initial reports suggest that some Hassania Agadir supporters were responsible for the vandalism, targeting various facilities in the sports complex, including seating and sanitary equipment.

Abdellatif Naciri, deputy mayor of Casablanca, expressed his outrage on Facebook, sharing photos of the destruction. He called the incident “shameful and unacceptable,” emphasizing that it does not reflect Moroccan values. He questioned whether future sports events could be hosted under such conditions and condemned those who used the match as an opportunity for offensive behavior.

Authorities have made arrests, and an investigation is underway, with surveillance footage being analyzed for further details.
