The local judicial police in the small town of Ben Ahmed, supported by the provincial judicial police of Settat, launched a criminal investigation on Sunday evening under the supervision of the public prosecutor to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery of human body parts in the restrooms attached to the Grand Mosque in Ben Ahmed.

On Sunday afternoon, the judicial police, assisted by forensic experts, began examining human bones and body parts found wrapped in plastic bags in the mosque’s restrooms. Several knives were also seized at the scene.

The police currently suspect an individual displaying erratic and unusual behavior, who was apprehended at the crime scene shortly before the body parts were discovered. The suspect was wearing blood-stained underwear.

A search of the suspect’s home uncovered personal items of questionable origin. Investigations are ongoing to determine how the suspect acquired these items and their potential link to the victim.

The human remains are being subjected to necessary genetic testing to identify the deceased, while DNA samples from the crime scene and the suspect’s clothing are being analyzed to confirm his involvement and uncover the full details and background of the crime.
