Police in Tinghir have arrested six individuals, including a prominent women’s rights activist, in connection with fraud, adultery, corruption, and abortions.
The investigation, launched after citizens reported being scammed with false promises of migration abroad, is being conducted in coordination with the Regional Judicial Police of Ouarzazate and the General Directorate for National Territory Surveillance, under the supervision of the Tinghir public prosecutor.
The main suspect and the activist were placed in custody following evidence of suspicious activities and unethical conduct.
Five of the six suspects have been remanded to the local prison in Ouarzazate, while the sixth is under investigation but released temporarily.
Authorities have also identified a doctor in Beni Mellal suspected of performing illegal abortions, and a national arrest warrant may soon be issued.
