The dollar/dirham exchange rate saw an appreciation of 0.31% at the end of March 2025, according to Attijari Global Research (AGR).
This increase was primarily driven by a positive basket effect of 0.35% in favor of the dollar, while a minimal market effect of -0.04% had a negligible impact, as stated in AGR’s “Weekly Mad Insights – Currencies” report.
AGR also noted a tightening of the dirham’s liquidity spreads, which narrowed by -3.9 basis points (bps) to -3.06%, marking the lowest level since February 2022.
The dirham has maintained its appreciation against its reference basket since the summer of 2024. This trend has been supported by stronger export flows compared to imports, leading to a continued decline in liquidity spreads.
